Oil mist is a byproduct of using metalworking fluids (MWFs) in an industrial machining or cutting process. Although MWFs can prolong the tools’ lives and make it easier to cut through materials, the oil mist they produce can also pollute the manufacturing space and overload collectors.

In industrial ducting and dust collection systems, blast gates or “cut-offs” can conserve air volume by opening and closing various parts of the duct system in order to provide air only to the machines or operation that is in use at the time. Spiral duct has been around a long time and if you have used it regularly, you are likely comfortable with the benefits - or at least the apparent benefits of spiral duct for industrial applications. Recently, US Duct has received a number of inquiries from contractors and reps looking for something to substitute for traditional spiral duct for such applications as dust, fume, mist and particle collection.
